Hi there!
If you are reading this, it means you have some sort of interest in this blog, so let me introduce myself.
I am an engineering student who is really fond of tech since it was born.
In recent years, I’ve started to develop my Homelab project, thanks to the inspiration gained from r/homelab in Reddit. It’s been over 4 years now, and to celebrate, I’ve decided to create my own blog to share my work and to create guides to help people out when starting in this hobby.
I will go more in depth about the infra I’m running in future blog posts, so stay tuned!
Why the name It Was DNS?
This is an easy question, when dealing with network problems, It’s Always DNS™, that’s it.
Now seriously, I’ve found out that when debugging network errors, I start looking at all the OSI Layers and 70% of the time it is a DNS related issue, either a machine using a different resolver, or the firewall blocking port 53.
That’s why, after some thought, I decided to register itwasdns.cc, as it was one of the little TLDs available, due to this being a common joke among homelabbers.
If you’ve got any questions, feel free to contact me. See you!
